Wedding Dress Shopping Tips

Once everything has settled down after your engagement the real planning starts. Soon after some of the main things are booked such as your venue, band and photographer, you will then start to be asked this question constantly by your friends and family  "So have you thought about your dress yet?" There are so many different styles of dresses and designers out there and this can make choosing your dress extremely difficult and overwhelming for some. If you watch "Yes To The Dress" you will know exactly what I am talking about.

I purchased my dress from The Town Bride in the Powerscourt Center (the first shop I visited). On the day of my appointment I was advised to try on different styles so I could get a sense of what suited me. I had one dress selected that I definitely wanted to try on in Town Bride from Ellis  Bridal. After completing my other appointments, I then went back to Town Bride tried the dress on again and picked it as my wedding dress.

This post features some of my tips and examples of the main style of dress that is out there. Below are some pictures of my dress, which was mermaid style.

My Tips:
  1. Enjoy the whole process and try not to get stressed about it.
  2. Do not get caught up on your weight at the time of trying on dresses (it is pressure you do not need to put on yourself)
  3. Stick to your budget if you are on one and do not try on dresses that are outside of it.
  4. Do not bring loads of people with you to your appointments. Maybe your Mam ,close friend and bridesmaid. (I say this because everyone has an opinion and having too many can  totally confuse you.)
  5. Be open minded when it comes to trying on something different. What you think you want might not be suited to you and that's ok.
  6. Book your appointment a few months in advance. Do not leave it until the last minute.
  7. Apply a small bit of tan a day or two before your dress appointment ,this will ensure no tan goes on the dress and it is natural looking. (this is something I did and that's because I like a little bit of tan on me)
  8. Do not over stretch yourself with loads of appointments in the one day (3 is a nice number).
  9. Do not over try dresses on this can lead to your mind being swamped with choice and too much choice can be a bad thing.
  10. Wear good underwear, i.e. nude knickers and bring a strapless bra with you.
  11. If you find you are being treated rudely by the a bridal shop during your booking, then leave and take your business elsewhere as you need to feel special.
  12. When you try on "The One" you will get that feeling that everyone speaks about and it is magic.
  13. Most importantly, finish off the day with a glass of wine or a cocktail (or both).

This post has been on my to-do list for a long time now, if you're stuck on ideas for something different then don't worry because I have you covered, from Gin School to Glamping and everything in between. These venues and activities will ease the stress of planning so enjoy the read. Organising a hen party can be a very difficult and tiring task. If you have been tasked as the hen party organiser you probably have a sense of the pressure already. My top tip is to make the whole planning process as easy as possible for yourself, especially if you're not used to planning and organising. The venue and activities that you choose will help take that stress away so ensure that you choose well. Also bear in mind that the Bride needs to feel special and relaxed. Even if there is mayhem going on in the background don't let her see it. Listoke Distillery & Gin School:...

Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations Review

Image from Kiehl's website Hello all, this post is dedicated to Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations. What is that I hear you ask? Apothecary preparations is a high level of Personalized skincare. It addresses the following skincare concerns: WRINKLE REDUCTION TEXTURE REFINING VISIBLE REDNESS NEUTRALIZING PORE MINIMIZING BRIGHTENING I find the older I get (mid-thirties ouch) the more focused I am on my skin, I have invested in my skincare more than I used to, by adding in some high-end products. I believe in paying for a good serum. Although this product was kindly sent to me to try out, all views expressed are my own. In terms of using Kiehl's, this is my first time to use the brand and I was really intrigued to see what it was like on the skin. Kiehls as a brand has been active since 1851 so I think it's safe to say that they know what they are doing and they know what works. This range takes the brand back to its roots of creating persona...

Bellingham Castle Wedding Venue

The Entrance  Hello all, this post feature will be the final one for now as part of my wedding venue feature. With this feature the spotlight is on Bellingham Castle which I fell in love with it, of course, each of the venues has charmed me in different ways. As you will see from the pictures the was shining for my  visit which made it extremely easy for me to take pictures of this breathtaking venue. I received a very warm welcome and I was shown around by the lovely Ciara. She explained that herself and Patrick look after the needs of Brides & Grooms. They are on hand for the run up to your big day.  The Castle is, as you would expect, extremely opulent. The Castle was renovated and re-opened in 2014.  There are up to 150 weddings a year here, so you guessed right, it is a highly sought after venue. As always early booking is essential, do not put booking your venue on the ...
