Top Tips On How To Shop For Your Wedding Dress

Hello all, for this post, I am going to share my top wedding dress shopping tips with you. If you are newly engaged firstly congratulations and I have no doubt that you are thinking of the dress and all that goes with it. Naturally, people will start to ask questions like, have you got the dress yet? , what do you like? , what style are you going for? , what shop's are you visiting?..... The whole process can be overwhelming for some brides and the consent questions annoying. With all that curiosity put aside, you should embrace and enjoy shopping for your dress.

Below I have set out my top tips for wedding dress shopping.

  • Give yourself time to get your wedding dress. You should be looking eight months before the big day. This gives you time to get alternations carried out and for the dress to be ordered in on time.
  • If you are buying straight from the rail, keep an eye on bridal shops sales, you are sure to save a lot of money from this.
  • Do not overbook your appointments, three a day is more than enough. Anything more will have you stressed out and you will not enjoy it.
  • If you want a Saturday appointment book well in advance. Going for a midweek appointment can be a better option in terms of time. You might get more time if there are fewer appointments in the shop.
  • Research the shops you are visiting. Do you like any of the dresses or designers that they stock? If you do, show them what you like and what you want to try on, having an idea of what you like before you go can give you more time for trying on.
  • Set a budget, know how much you have and let the bridal shop know. It is the first question they will ask "what is your budget for today"

  • Choose your wedding dress shopping squad carefully. You don't want any negative nellies for your special moment.
  • Do not bring loads of people with you when trying on. Having too many opinions can put you off, I would recommend bringing three people.
  • Have trust in the bridal shop's that you visit. They are the experts and they know what will suit you just by looking at you. Let them select a wild dress for you, you never know it could be the one.
  • Step out of your comfort zone, try on styles that you wouldn't normally go for. More often than not what you think will suit you doesn't.

  • Wear the appropriate underwear, nude is a good choice. Bring some Spanx with you too for trying on dresses, particularly ones that are fitted.
  • Bring shoes with you that will be of similar height to the ones you will wear on your wedding day. This will give you an idea of the length and the shop will get a sense too for future alterations.
  • Don't get a spray tan the night before you go trying on dresses. Bridal shops will not allow you try on if you have loads of tan on as you can stain the dresses.

  • Remember dresses can be altered e.g. a strapless dress can have sleeves added, a plain dress can have a belt added, extra material can be added under a nude illusion neckline. Bare this in mind especially if you really like a dress.
  • Do not panic if you don't get all the feels as not every bride does.
  • Enjoy the process and take it all in.
  • When you "Say Yes To The Dress" celebrate with your bridal squad.

Bellingham Castle Wedding Venue

The Entrance  Hello all, this post feature will be the final one for now as part of my wedding venue feature. With this feature the spotlight is on Bellingham Castle which I fell in love with it, of course, each of the venues has charmed me in different ways. As you will see from the pictures the was shining for my  visit which made it extremely easy for me to take pictures of this breathtaking venue. I received a very warm welcome and I was shown around by the lovely Ciara. She explained that herself and Patrick look after the needs of Brides & Grooms. They are on hand for the run up to your big day.  The Castle is, as you would expect, extremely opulent. The Castle was renovated and re-opened in 2014.  There are up to 150 weddings a year here, so you guessed right, it is a highly sought after venue. As always early booking is essential, do not put booking your venue on the ...

Finally Contouring is getting the push

Anyone else as happy as me to see that contouring is not as popular in the makeup world. I personally could never get used to it. I think it looks amazing in photographers or on a night out when done right. If you prefer a more heavy look. I believe strobing has been around before it was just called highlighting then. So do not be confused!!! For me I prefer a more natural look when it comes to makeup. The whole idea with strobing is that you can see the skin and it is not heavily covered up.  I have been using the Mac Strobe Cream for a few months now. You can also strobe with powder.  Mary-Loumanizer by the Balm Mac Soft and Gentle  What I like about Mac Strobe? It makes the skin look radiant, fresh and healthy (for tired Mammies like me it's a must) It's easily applied. It's a no fuss product, there is no messing with it. It can be worn alone or added after foundation is applied. With some blush you are good to go. ...
