This Is More Than Makeup

Beauty Room

On Friday I was kindly invited by Breda O'Neill, the lady behind More Than Makeup and Shellac Nails Dublin to try out the Moroccan Spray Tan and to also get my nails painted. Breda was my makeup artist of choice for my Wedding Day and more recently she did my makeup for my daughter's christening. The makeup she applies is flawless and it does not move, I only had to topup my lipstick. Breda has been in the Beauty industry for many many years and as she says herself " too many to number".

Firstly the tan, I have used Moroccan Tan before at home and I liked the results but I have never gotten sprayed with it.

Breda's Top Tips for preparing the skin:

  • Exfoliation and moisturisation are key and the earlier they are started before tanning the better.
  • Breda prefers natural exfoliants - something like coconut oil and sea salt and I love coconut oil for head to toe moisturising.
  • Pay particular attention to dry areas like knuckles, heels, knees etc. because tan 'sticks' to dry areas and can look dirty (people often forget to moisturise their necks so it's a good idea to watch out for that too).
  • Drink lots of water - hydration starts from the inside out
  • Also- do not do any of the above on the day you are being spayed- no perfumes, lotions, deodorants or hair removal (products like Veet can leave a film on the skin which can act as a barrier)

Tan after it developed on my legs

All bronzed for my night out

What I thought:

What's great about this tan is that you can rinse if off after 4 hours of being sprayed, so you can get sprayed that morning and be ready to head out that night or day. I was very happy with the results, the tan developed into a rich brown. I went for the the original colour but if you like it darker you can go for the darker shade.

The next morning, I gently rinsed the tan off and patted my body dry. I went out on Saturday night for my Christmas party with the girls, so it was perfect for me.

Generally your tan should last up to five days. Moisturise the skin after each shower to keep the tan fresh and your skin hydrated. Breda also sprays the body twice which is great. I find it can be hard to hold a spray on my legs, especially if they are only sprayed once. I apply some gel bronzer to my legs if I feel they need a boost after rinsing the tan off, but this time it wasn't needed.

Breda does not over spray the feet or hands, as the fallout from her spraying naturally falls onto the feet and she gently sprays the hands. I have had spray tans before where my feet and hands have been unnatural looking and over brown, so I loved her spraying technique.

I have this body butter and it is gorgeous

Gel II Application

Bredas nail varnish selection there is  plenty of choice

Before my tan Breda applied Gel II to my nails. I had never heard of this brand before. Unlike other brands the nail does not need to be buffed before application, as over buffing the nail can cause damage. My nails are weak at the moment and the Gel II can help strengthen the nail, as it is not as harsh on the nail.

From the brand:

"Gel II® is an extraordinary two-step soak of gel polish. Outshining the competition by making a non-solvent and base coat free gel system that won’t harm your natural nails. Fused with essential vitamins and minerals to help promote nail growth and strength. Gel II® is so strong in itself that it will last for weeks."

"Wave good-bye to base coats and harmful solvents! Unlike other gel polishes today, Gel II® doesn’t have a base coat and is an easy two-step application process. Gel II® is enriched with vitamins and minerals to help nails grow stronger and healthier. While the gel is on, your nails will have a chance to grow longer and won’t be exposed to everyday wear and tear. In an added benefit, our Gel II® Remover is safe on your nails and fingers unlike the 100% acetone it takes to scrape off other gels".

I chose the colour Holiday Season, it has a lovely sparkle to it and Breda added some festive nail art for me and she uses genuine Swarovski crystals for her nail art. The Gl II  should last 2 weeks once applied, of course this is dependant on the condition of your nails. As mine I will take extra care of the  polish.

With regular application of this gel you should see an improvement in the health your nails, as one of Breda's regular clients has noticed. I love the packaging that this gel comes in, the silver and black looks very sleek. My first impressions are good, I like that the nail does not have to be buffed and that the gel is good for conditioning, strengthening and contains vitamins. I can see more and more salons starting to use this if they are not already.

I can highly recommend Breda for all of your beauty needs and she is highly professional. You can contact Breda and see all of her amazing work via her pages Shellac Nails Dublin &  More Than Makeup.
Bredas prices: Spray Tan €25, Shellac €25 and Makeup €35 or €50 for her to travel to you.

Thank you Breda for having me.

Love & Sparkle

Flormar Revolution Lipstick In Burgundy Mission

These are the three berry colours available    I was delighted to receive a sample of the Revolution lipstick in burgundy mission, along with the lip liner to match. These were Kindly sent from RDC Communications . Flormar  was launched this year in Ireland and it has proven to be a huge success and a popular choice for those who want affordability and quality.  I tested this lipstick out over Christmas, as I am trying to be more adventurous and try out stronger colours, as I normally tend to stick with nude tones. This lipstick is a rich berry colour with blue undertones, having these undertones makes your teeth appear whiter.   "Revolution is Flormar premium lipstick containing shea butter, cocoa, olives, a super pigment and easy 8 hr staying power" . Swatch of lipstick and liner  Application Tips: Before application ensure your lips are in good condition especially in this harsh weather. Exfoliate to remove any dry ...
