"I'm With The Band" Ger & Amy's Wedding Story

This story is dedicated to Amy and Ger, an alternative wedding story that will inspire many couples to plan their wedding their own way.

The Love Story

Amy and Ger met in work nearly eight years ago and they got engaged the day they moved into the house that they built.

“Ger proposed to me in loo but he won’t admit that. As I scrubbed clean our new kitchen in my sports bra & leggings without a scrap of makeup Ger called Amy upstairs saying that their en-suite was leaking”

“As I ran up he caught me in the door told me to close my eyes as he had something for me – I started a diet (probably that day) and I asked “is it chocolate” – it wasn’t it was my Grandmother’s engagement ring”

The Wedding Venue

As Ger plays with a wedding band called Jaker & Co he is at weddings every weekend.  They knew they wanted something different.

"Originally, we wanted to go abroad but it was too much of a headache. So one Friday evening Amy typed ‘small alternative wedding venue’ into Google The Pigeon House" popped up, the next day we went to the pigeon house for brunch and while stuck in traffic on the way home, they decided to book their wedding.

 The Wedding Dress

When it came to her dress, Amy did not go the traditional route.

I saw a dress I liked online from Needle and Thread’s and I saw that it came in full length, so I ordered it and I liked it and that was it. Simples!”

Such a stunning dress and bride, of course, the beaded detail is fabulous.

The planning process

With the wedding planning, Amy was easy going with the parts that she could control.

Guests lists, awaiting RSVPs, seating plans, guests cancelling at the last minute – this drove me insane! I tried my best to enjoy the process, I was on top of everything and tried to stay in control, but at times I found it stressful”

Theme/ Colour Scheme

“I went from blush pink to peach and green. I wanted to work with the venue and the décor there.

"I wanted my dress which was blush pink to tie in with everything”

“I definitely wanted the room to have a whimsical, enchanted forest feel”

 Personal details

When it came to the personal details, Ger and Amy added in details that represented them as a couple from music to family and food.

Amy and Ger are real foodies so their venue was perfect for them. “The food in the Pigeon House is amazing, nothing like the traditional wedding menu

As Ger is a musician, they wanted to have music acts throughout their wedding. “Our friends sang at our ceremony and afters, and we had lots of musical friends and family jumped up to play which was great fun

“My favourite part of the day was when The Hit Machine played. These are an amazing drum troop, my husband got up to play – they didn’t realise he was a drummer and it was just such a fun moment!”

Wedding Planning Tips

“My biggest tip for couples planning a wedding has be to leave your honeymoon a little later. Planning a wedding is exhausting, go on a mini moon and relax and recover, then go on your main honeymoon a little later. This gives you something to look forward to and time to save also.”

The Honeymoon

Ger and Amy opted for a Minimoon. The week after their wedding they went to The Europe in Fossa, Kerry and then to Thailand in September.

Anything they would change….

“Try to relax a little more and take in all in and enjoy as much of the planning as possible.”

Flormar Revolution Lipstick In Burgundy Mission

These are the three berry colours available    I was delighted to receive a sample of the Revolution lipstick in burgundy mission, along with the lip liner to match. These were Kindly sent from RDC Communications . Flormar  was launched this year in Ireland and it has proven to be a huge success and a popular choice for those who want affordability and quality.  I tested this lipstick out over Christmas, as I am trying to be more adventurous and try out stronger colours, as I normally tend to stick with nude tones. This lipstick is a rich berry colour with blue undertones, having these undertones makes your teeth appear whiter.   "Revolution is Flormar premium lipstick containing shea butter, cocoa, olives, a super pigment and easy 8 hr staying power" . Swatch of lipstick and liner  Application Tips: Before application ensure your lips are in good condition especially in this harsh weather. Exfoliate to remove any dry skin and apply vase

Hello all, I hope you enjoyed reading my first venue feature as I am really enjoying it. I have felt so welcomed by the venues that I have visited so far.  Please feel free to share and spread the word if this feature is of interest to any engaged couples you know. (These posts are not sponsored) and you can also follow my blog on    Facebook   |   Instagram   | Twitter  |  Snapchat  |  Pinterest On Thursday 2nd  June I went to visit venue number two, the breathtaking Ardgillan Castl e. Located between Balbriggan & Skerries. If you have ever visited here you will understand what I mean. Everytime I go to Ardgillan I literally fall in love with it all over again. Whether I go for coffee in the tea rooms, bring my daughters to the  playground or just walk around the grounds. I adore it and Ardgillan was recently featured on Lovin Dublin as the best park in Dublin to visit, now that's pretty cool. So onto the beautiful Castle, I met with Ann-Marie and Danielle and we chatt

Finally Contouring is getting the push

Anyone else as happy as me to see that contouring is not as popular in the makeup world. I personally could never get used to it. I think it looks amazing in photographers or on a night out when done right. If you prefer a more heavy look. I believe strobing has been around before it was just called highlighting then. So do not be confused!!! For me I prefer a more natural look when it comes to makeup. The whole idea with strobing is that you can see the skin and it is not heavily covered up.  I have been using the Mac Strobe Cream for a few months now. You can also strobe with powder.  Mary-Loumanizer by the Balm Mac Soft and Gentle  What I like about Mac Strobe? It makes the skin look radiant, fresh and healthy (for tired Mammies like me it's a must) It's easily applied. It's a no fuss product, there is no messing with it. It can be worn alone or added after foundation is applied. With some blush you are good to go.  Lo
