"It Went From There" Lynsey & David's Wedding Story

This wedding story is dedicated to Lynsey and David.
A mutual love of music brought these two together.
All suppliers are linked at the end of  the story

 The Love Story

Lynsey and David met while at Music College in DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. A musical love story, their music teacher paired them up for a duet competition at the Feis Ceoil. As Lynsey says, “It went from there” they did not win the competition that year or the next it was third time lucky for them.

They moved in together after a year and a half, into a small flat in Dublin and they then moved to Glasgow together in 2016 so David could continue his studies at the Royal Conservatoiren of Scotland. Then came the proposal

“That December, just after our 4 year anniversary David proposed on the Ferris wheel at the Edinburgh Christmas Markets. He had chosen the ring himself and it was perfect. We celebrated by drinking hot apple gins and ice skating, it was beautiful”

The Venue

Before Lynsey and David moved to Glasgow, they worked as opera singer waiters in many venues all over Ireland so when it came to venue hunting they had a head start and they knew what they didn’t want.

We narrowed it down to about five venues which we viewed in January 2017 while we were still home for Christmas.

"Before we actually viewed our chosen venue, David had to fly back to Glasgow and at that point, we thought we had chosen another venue”

Lynsey went to view the Millhouse with her Mam and Auntie and instantly fell in love with it. I knew it was the place for us, I loved the space that they have for ceremonies as we were having a humanist ceremony so it was very important that the onsite ceremony room was perfect”

The Millhouse also has the cutest dressing room for the bridal party, perfect for the morning of the wedding, which I loved”.

Lynsey face timed David so he could see as much of the venue as possible but he was happy to trust her decision that The Millhouse was definitely the one and David didn’t see the venue in person until that May

The Dress

Lysney wanted a figure hugging dress and a dress that was a little bit out of the ordinary. "The two things I said I definitely wouldn’t want in my dress were sleeves and a veil.. I got both”

Lynsey went dress shopping with her Mam and after trying on her third one, she felt that it might be the one

“I didn’t buy the dress that first day, I wanted to make absolutely sure there was no other dress for me! So we went to a few more stores and my Mam came to Glasgow so we could look there too, nothing came close to the Mark Lesley dress I tried on in  La Bella Sposa”

"We went back with my bridesmaids in June 2017 and ordered it. When I put it on again that day I felt amazing. It did everything I needed it to do and it still felt comfortable which was very important to me. When I got it altered it fit like a glove,
I knew I was going to feel great on the day”

As for the veil that Lynsey thought she did not want. “I am so glad Leila in La Bella Sposa made me try one on because it finished the ‘bridal look’ for me”

The planning process

Lynsey planned most of the wedding from Glasgow, she was a super organised Bride. Every time she went home for a visit, she would aim to tick an item off the list.

“My fab maid of honour and Cousin Laura sent me over a Kikki K wedding planner from Australia and it had everything I needed. With Checklists and reminders of what needed to be done at each stage, it was so helpful”

“Being so organised meant that there was less stress than there could have been in the last few weeks running up to the big day. It also meant that I could enjoy the build up rather than being worked up (that much!)”

“There was of course things that had to be left to the week of the wedding which I did get a bit worked up about but on the whole I loved the planning. Would I do it again though? Not in a million years”

Theme /Colour Scheme

Lynsey and David had a lavender colour scheme. Lynsey decorated with a rustic theme using fresh wild flowers and she added details to the décor also adding that personal touch to their special day.

I picked up lots of little bits for decorating over the year and a half of preparation. I really wanted to make the day ‘ours’ and have our personal touch to it”

"I got lots of ideas from Pinterest, including the idea of painting an old bike lavender and filling the basket with fresh flowers and adding a ‘welcome to our wedding’ sign”

"We also had an old bookshelf as our table plan and I loved how it turned out”

Personal Details

They had a humanist ceremony so the whole day was very personal to them. “For us, this type of ceremony was perfect as it included everyone in the room as well as focusing on us as a couple”

They chose their readings and music. “Emma Sides was our celebrant and she did such an amazing job”.

On the day, David added something special to the wedding, bringing in their love for music. “David organised for everyone at the wedding to sing a song for me, ‘Shed a little light’ by Foy Vance, one of our favourite artists. He took the lead, the bridesmaids and groomsmen joined in on the chorus and the rest of the guests sang the background ‘ooh’ part, it was so special"

Tips for engaged couples

Some very practical tips here from Lynsey and David to ease the planning process.

“Enjoy the preparation it is easy to let it get on top of you. You will regret it after if you cannot look back on that time as a time where you enjoyed each other’s company, while going through different photographer’s websites or trailing through different bands websites”

“Celebrate each landmark, bought your rings? Treat yourself to a nice meal or take away or a bottle of wine”

Honeymoon

Starting they spent two nights in the Westbury in Dublin as a wedding gift. They then went to London for two nights and took in the “School of Rock’ musical.

From London, they flew to Cancun for seven nights. “The resort is stunning and we had such a relaxing time. I would have happily recommended it to anyone” However Lynsey  has been unwell since returning. "It’s not just our resort  it’s all across the all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and a lot of people are finding themselves very sick after their holiday.

Anything that you would change

“Absolutely nothing! I honestly had the best day, laughing from morning to night with all my favorite people around me”

“I could not have asked for more and I know David feels the same. In hindsight, I would have chosen another honeymoon destination to avoid the illness but I can accept that since we had such a perfect wedding day

So there you have it Lynsey and David's wedding story.
A very organised and focused wedding with many personal touches brought in for that extra sparkle.

Flormar Revolution Lipstick In Burgundy Mission

These are the three berry colours available    I was delighted to receive a sample of the Revolution lipstick in burgundy mission, along with the lip liner to match. These were Kindly sent from RDC Communications . Flormar  was launched this year in Ireland and it has proven to be a huge success and a popular choice for those who want affordability and quality.  I tested this lipstick out over Christmas, as I am trying to be more adventurous and try out stronger colours, as I normally tend to stick with nude tones. This lipstick is a rich berry colour with blue undertones, having these undertones makes your teeth appear whiter.   "Revolution is Flormar premium lipstick containing shea butter, cocoa, olives, a super pigment and easy 8 hr staying power" . Swatch of lipstick and liner  Application Tips: Before application ensure your lips are in good condition especially in this harsh weather. Exfoliate to remove any dry skin and apply vase

Located between Balbriggan & Skerries. If you have ever visited here you will understand what I mean. Everytime I go to Ardgillan I literally fall in love with it all over again. Whether I go for coffee in the tea rooms, bring my daughters to the  playground or just walk around the grounds. I adore it and Ardgillan was recently featured on Lovin Dublin as the best park in Dublin to visit, now that's pretty cool. So onto the beautiful Castle, I met with Ann-Marie and Danielle and we chatt

Finally Contouring is getting the push

Anyone else as happy as me to see that contouring is not as popular in the makeup world. I personally could never get used to it. I think it looks amazing in photographers or on a night out when done right. If you prefer a more heavy look. I believe strobing has been around before it was just called highlighting then. So do not be confused!!! For me I prefer a more natural look when it comes to makeup. The whole idea with strobing is that you can see the skin and it is not heavily covered up.  I have been using the Mac Strobe Cream for a few months now. You can also strobe with powder.  Mary-Loumanizer by the Balm Mac Soft and Gentle  What I like about Mac Strobe? It makes the skin look radiant, fresh and healthy (for tired Mammies like me it's a must) It's easily applied. It's a no fuss product, there is no messing with it. It can be worn alone or added after foundation is applied. With some blush you are good to go.  Lo
