"It Was A Perfect Fit" Mags & Gerard's Wedding Story

This post is dedicated to Mags and Gerard and their wedding story.
A couple who certainly knew what they wanted for their special day.
Wedding Suppliers are linked at the end of their story.

The Proposal:
Gerard popped the question to Mags while she was pregnant with their son Oli. They were due into the hospital that morning for the big scan and it was Mags birthday. A very special occasion for them. After the scan, they went for a lovely lunch across from the Rotunda. After lunch Gerard had something else in mind and he insisted on going for a walk in the National Botanic Gardens.

Gerard is a Superintendent in Howth Golf Club and as part of his studying; he was located in the Botanic Gardens so they are quite special to him. Whilst in the Botanic Gardens they visited the tropical house, such a stunning building in the gardens.

"So we went into the tropical house and when the coast was clear Gerard got down on bended knee and produced a beautiful solitaire and unbelievably it was a perfect fit! I cried so much. When we were driving home I rang my mam 3 times to tell her, but each time I was crying so much that I couldn’t talk and had to hang up"

Choosing the venue
When selecting their venue, food played a big part as Gerard is from a long line of Morgan Men and food quality is extremely important to them. Another important element was comfort and taking that into account their chosen wedding venue was Cabra Castle.

"The room was large enough for the size of wedding we wanted and there was room for everyone, plus with any wedding in Cabra Castle there is a completely separate entrance to the main entrance"  Having that separate entrance meant privacy away from the public. Not bumping into people going to and from the venue as part of their wedding celebrations.

"On the day the staff were incredible, cliché but we were literally treated like a king and queen and the food was incredible"

The Dress

Mags didn't want a traditional wedding dress as such. She wanted something to represent her and her own personal style. Mags took a trip to Myrtle Ivory where she found a beautiful tulle skirt by Watters Couture and for the top Mags wanted a corset, as she wanted it green in colour she had to get it made. Unfortunately, for Mags her seamstress who was making her corset let her down three weeks before the wedding.

"Essentially, I had a skirt and that was it, I rang Myrtle Ivory and they told me to come in. Stephanie Allen agreed to fast a corset in the exact colour that I wanted and had it turned around in a week".

Mags added in some very personal accessories to finish off her bridal look. I accessorised with some lace gloves made by my Mam and she passed onto me a pillbox hat she wore on her wedding day, I have put it away for my Daughter"  At the time of their wedding the pillbox hat was 49 years old so they recovered it and added a birdcage veil. "I also wore a beautiful handmade shoulder piece which I fell in love with”.

 Personal Details

When it came to the detail Mags said  "Pretty much everything was personal – nothing was picked just by chance as we wanted the day/ceremony to mean something to us and our families so we carefully put it together to reflect that and hopefully it showed our families what they mean to us"

Tips for engaged couples:

If you’re newly engaged Mags has some very wise words for you.

Don’t sweat the small stuff. On the day, personalised robes or glasses mean nothing, so don’t stress yourself over these things.
Don’t do anything because you feel you have to.
There are no rules to follow just as long as you're both happy that’s all that matters.
Suit yourselves and try not listen to outside influence, if it feels right for you both then it is right for you both.
There is no such thing a perfect, if you and your partner are there on the day that is perfection.

The Honeymoon

For their Honeymoon Mags and Gerard went to New York and Cancun and lastly would they change anything the answer “Not a thing"

Flormar Revolution Lipstick In Burgundy Mission

These are the three berry colours available    I was delighted to receive a sample of the Revolution lipstick in burgundy mission, along with the lip liner to match. These were Kindly sent from RDC Communications . Flormar  was launched this year in Ireland and it has proven to be a huge success and a popular choice for those who want affordability and quality.  I tested this lipstick out over Christmas, as I am trying to be more adventurous and try out stronger colours, as I normally tend to stick with nude tones. This lipstick is a rich berry colour with blue undertones, having these undertones makes your teeth appear whiter.   "Revolution is Flormar premium lipstick containing shea butter, cocoa, olives, a super pigment and easy 8 hr staying power" . Swatch of lipstick and liner  Application Tips: Before application ensure your lips are in good condition especially in this harsh weather. Exfoliate to remove any dry skin and apply vase

Hello all, I hope you enjoyed reading my first venue feature as I am really enjoying it. I have felt so welcomed by the venues that I have visited so far.  Please feel free to share and spread the word if this feature is of interest to any engaged couples you know. (These posts are not sponsored) and you can also follow my blog on    Facebook   |   Instagram   | Twitter  |  Snapchat  |  Pinterest On Thursday 2nd  June I went to visit venue number two, the breathtaking Ardgillan Castl e. Located between Balbriggan & Skerries. If you have ever visited here you will understand what I mean. Everytime I go to Ardgillan I literally fall in love with it all over again. Whether I go for coffee in the tea rooms, bring my daughters to the  playground or just walk around the grounds. I adore it and Ardgillan was recently featured on Lovin Dublin as the best park in Dublin to visit, now that's pretty cool. So onto the beautiful Castle, I met with Ann-Marie and Danielle and we chatt

Finally Contouring is getting the push

Anyone else as happy as me to see that contouring is not as popular in the makeup world. I personally could never get used to it. I think it looks amazing in photographers or on a night out when done right. If you prefer a more heavy look. I believe strobing has been around before it was just called highlighting then. So do not be confused!!! For me I prefer a more natural look when it comes to makeup. The whole idea with strobing is that you can see the skin and it is not heavily covered up.  I have been using the Mac Strobe Cream for a few months now. You can also strobe with powder.  Mary-Loumanizer by the Balm Mac Soft and Gentle  What I like about Mac Strobe? It makes the skin look radiant, fresh and healthy (for tired Mammies like me it's a must) It's easily applied. It's a no fuss product, there is no messing with it. It can be worn alone or added after foundation is applied. With some blush you are good to go.  Lo
